Mr. Springer is a Senior Project Geologist at Bonkowski & Associates, Inc. He joined the firm in 2002, after practicing at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, United States Geological Survey, and URS Corporation. Mr. Springer specializes in infrastructure, pressure grouting, environmental and groundwater projects involving highways, pipelines, power lines, buildings, schools, hospitals, landfills, dams, water wells, injection wells, and power generating facilities. He is also experienced in downhole geophysical instrumentation, logging and mapping. He has managed dozens of projects related to hydrocarbon contamination involving source removal actions, environmental investigations, monitoring and installation and operation of remediation systems. He has mapped and evaluated hundreds of landslides for FEMA and evaluated remedial alternatives. He has installed and tested water supply wells for irrigation and power plant cooling in California and Nevada; supervised drilling and sampling at all scales from direct push and hydropunch sampling to large rigs drilling to thousands of feet; and analyzed geologic hazards for several proposed pipeline routes in the California Coast Ranges. He has logged trenches, performed aerial mapping, interpreted oil well logs and seismic reflection lines, and run seismic refraction surveys for earthquake hazard investigations. He has supervised drilling and carried out geophysical surveys to assess potential reservoir sites for the Las Vergenes Water District, California, and has worked on site restoration and erosion control projects.
